Set-up of unit for spit braai
- Remove the ember maker and grids form the unit
- Use briquettes and pack three small towers for lighting on the heavy duty ash pan
- Prepare another fire on the side for the preparation of additional hot coals (this must only be lit
- when the spit is started)
- Remove our stainless steel spit shaft before lighting the fire
Preparing the lamb / pork / etc.
- Ask the butcher to prepare your lamb/pork, etc. they will spice your meat according to taste
- Remove the three clamps from the spit shaft
- Press the body down on the legs and the front legs (This will result in stretching the body open
- completely)
- Position the lamb / pork / etc. with the heaviest part of the body (Normally the front) towards the
- spit motor / left side of the unit.
- Put the pipe through the hole at the back of the body
- Position the body right in the middle of the spit shaft
- The three clamps must be positioned as follows:
- The first clamp, under the front legs
- The second clamp, under the ribs of the body
- The third clamp, under the back legs
- Use steel wire and tie the body to the spit shaft by putting the wire from the back of the body through the holes in the clamps
- Tie the spine of the body to the shaft at three places
Placing the Shaft in position
- Connect the rubber housing to the pipe before putting the pipe into the unit and make sure the clamps are screwed tightly
- Two people must hold the shaft with the body, one on each side and place the shaft through the
hole on the left side of the unit, towards the spit motor - The pipe must be pressed towards the pin of the spit motor
- Fasten the screw on the motor to position the spit shaft
- Turn on your spit motor
NOTE: The maximum weight on the spit unit is 25kg.
